A few nights ago, i was discussing with Fren, what makes people settle down for a FUTURE together.

If the answer is:"Becos ours is true love".

Acceptable, yet unconvincing. Something's lacking.

How are you able to thump your chest and vouch tat your love for each other will be everlasting and true? That no temptations nor other factors will cause a change in his or your heart? How are you able to predict that this true love will stay true in another 10,20 years' time? And how true is true love actually? Is there a true love thermometer that gauges for you?

The best classic reply i've ever heard:

"Becos both of us want to apply flat."

Most practical, yet least romantic phrase ever.

If you want to buy flat so badly, i suggest you buy a second hand.

Second classic reply:

"Becos my mum wants me to marry her asap so she can play with grandchildren."

Diaoz. Who's the one getting married? You or your mum?

And sorry lor, don't make your wife look like a children factory production line.

Maybe it's their way of phrasing that decreases the sacredness of the word "Marriage"?

Or maybe it takes time to convince myself with a 'right' answer.

Fren thought for awhile and said that question was tough.

How do we know? How will we know?

"It's accumulative bah," Fren said. "Accumulation of how much you love and trust this person enough to spend the rest of your life together."

"But doesn't accumulation of trust & love takes time? 10 years? 20?"

"Not so long lah."

"You will know when it comes. And the timeline depends on each individual too."

I guess nobody can come up with the 'Perfect' answer. There's no perfect answer in this question either.

Fren is right, in a way.

You will know. We will know.

The future is unpredictable like the weather, but let's believe, that there will always be SOMEONE out there in this whole wide world that will prove to us that he/she's worth it.

There will be.
